GoLocalProv Investigates Campo's Arrest Record

Democratic candidate for House District 31 faces new questions about a past arrest in 1996.

A past arrest charge may be coming back to haunt one Democratic candidate for the General Assembly.

An investigative report by GoLocalProv shows that Steve Campo, Democratic candidate for House District 31, was arrested in 1996 on charges of larceny. According to police reports, Campo was charged with failure to pay for work done on one of his tractors at Interstate Diesel – a local mechanic's shop in North Kingstown. Campo also owns a local business in North Kingstown, a construction company.

According to reports from the North Kingstown Police Department, Campo stole four copies of customer service tickets from the manager's desk at Interstate. Without tickets, the only recorded proof of the work done on Campo's tractor, Interstate was unable to demand payment or hold Campo's tractor.
