Gunmen Beat Up Local Pot Grower While His Kids Watch, Flee with Marijuana

The suspects sneaked up on a South Kingstown home and attacked the grower and his wife while their children watched, police said.

Police said two gunmen beat up a medical marijuana grower in South Kingstown and stole his plants Sunday.

The suspects were still on the loose as of Tuesday afternoon.

The grower is a licensed medical marijuana patient and was growing plants at his Mooresfield Road home, police said, adding the suspects knew there was marijuana at the home.

On Sunday at about 10:30 a.m., police said the suspects approached the home on Mooresfield Road while the man and his two children were in the backyard. One suspect was wearing a ski mask; the other was wearing pantyhose over his head.

They beat the man over the head and attacked his wife, who was sleeping at the time, police said. They tied up the pair and led their two children to a bedroom.

In addition to the marijuana, the suspects also stole jewelry and money, police said.

Police released the following descriptions of the suspects:

1. Hispanic male: 5’8”, 180 lbs, fully clad in camouflage wearing black gloves with tan shoes that had white soles. This suspect disguised himself by donning a black panty hose over his face and brandished a “blued” colored revolver with wood grips.

2. Hispanic male: 5’8”, 220-230 lbs, wearing a grey “Patriots” sweatshirt with black athletic pants with a white stripe. This suspect disguised himself by donning a black ski mask over his face and wore fabric gloves with red neoprene palms and finger tips. This suspect brandished an automatic pistol with a matte silver finish with black grips.

Police said they destroyed phones belonging to the husband and wife so they couldn’t immediately contact police.
