PART-TIME MUSIC TEACHER: PRESCHOOL – 8TH GRADE

2015-2016 Academic Year

This is a part time position with additional fee-based opportunities for afterschool programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree or comparable experience in music or music education
• Committed Christian, active in a local church
• Committed to a Christian school environment

Skills:

• Knowledgeable of and enthusiastic about the role of music in child development
• Able to integrate music ideas, activities, and appreciation into thematic curriculum units
• Able to integrate a Christian perspective into curriculum, instruction, discipline and the school community
• A self-starter who is able to work well with others
• Able to organize a musical performance, including coordination of volunteers
• Able to demonstrate creativity with a wide range of children in musical performance
• Organize opportunities for students to be exposed to musical instruments and participate in music lessons through a rental program with a local music company.
• Able to implement the following:
  • Classroom instruction
    • Preschool – 8th grade once per week (approximately 12 Classes)
    • Integrate Music instruction and activities with class units
    • Curriculum Adaptation/Development
    • Implement or adapt elementary school music curriculum
    • Insure that curriculum is aligned with NAME Standards
• Organize Two Performances for West Bay Community
  • Christmas Concert
  • Spring Musical
• Assist with Chapel music

Optional Opportunities:

• After-school programs (fee per activity for student)
  • Individual Lessons
  • Ensembles
  • Worship band

Desired Qualifications:

• Experienced in teaching Spanish
• Knowledgeable of and enthusiastic about teaching and learning
• Current teaching certificate
• ACSI or state certification
• Ability to teach elementary and middle school children
• A self-starter, able to work well with others
• Creative

Skills:

• Demonstrate ability to work with and relate to students
• Demonstrate ability to teach children with varied skills and learning styles
• Ability to integrate a Christian perspective into curriculum, instruction, discipline and the school community
• Guide, assist and encourage students in the learning process
• Evaluate and grade class and homework assignments
• Utilize electronic data base system for grade book, lesson plans, and parent communication
• Effectively work with other teachers, faculty members and parents
• Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills
