Home Alone or Busy Cooking?

With winter break upon us, parents can stop worrying since there's a new opportunity to keep their kids occupied learning to prepare family meals while they're at work.  This year, Fit2cook4Kids is offering winter and spring break camps.  One for advanced students at the Independence Square Foundation on the URI Kingstown Campus, and a beginner camp at the Davisville Middle School in North Kingstown.  Beginner camps are for ages 8 to 12 years, while advanced camp is for 12 to 15 year old students.

Advanced campers will be competing in teams each afternoon in a culinary game created by Fit2cook4Kids campers called Pressure Cooker™.  Participants select several specified ingredients and then add whatever they like to make a culinary delight which is judged on taste, presentation and creativity.  The winning team of Pressure Cooker™ gets the right to participate in a video that will be filmed at PEGRI TV studio in Cranston, to be aired on the RI public access channel.

It's not good to leave your kids home alone.  What's good is arriving home from work to a delicious meal competently prepared by your child who has also learned to stay fit and communicate well.  Details about the camps can be found at www.fit2cook4Kid.org.
