Lafayette Band Seeks Musicians
All experience levels are invited to attend weekly rehearsals.

One of the oldest ensembles in Rhode Island is the Lafayette Band of North Kingstown, which was founded 130 years ago and continues to bring music and joy to audiences across the state.
What makes this group of artists unique is the openness with which it is run. Along with expert musicians with decades of performing experience, young and budding members are urged to join to develop their skills and experience being a part of a big band.
All that is needed is a love of music.

Musicians of all experience levels are invited to join the group at its rehearsals every Wednesday, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at North Kingstown High School, Band Room, 150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown, R.I.
Led by conductor Bethany Bromley, the nonprofit community concert band offers musicians an opportunity to continue using and building musical skills, or to return to playing. The 45 current members include high school and college students, working adults and retirees. Their common bond is a love of music.

There are no fees or auditions required to join. Members must only commit to regular attendance at rehearsals and concerts. Especially needed are those who play clarinet and low brass instruments.
The band’s repertoire features show tunes and marches, big band and swing, solo and ensemble pieces, and classical overtures. The group’s yearly schedule includes the Wickford Festival of Lights concert in December, the Armed Forces Salute and Memorial Day performances in May, weekly outdoor concerts in the summer, and appearances at area nursing homes. The band also recently performed at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol.
