NK Council majority needs change

Vote for a change in Town Council leadership November 8th

North Kingstown voters have good cause to seek change in the majority "leadership" within its Town Council.

Those of us who keep current with Town Council activities have witnessed decisions, time and time again, that disregard what is in the best interest of North Kingstown residents.

Regarding local government, it's often said that party affiliations really don't matter; it's more what candidates stand for. In good faith many of us voted accordingly. Sadly, we have good reasons to be disappointed.

Too often, this Town Council, driven by its majority of three Republicans, has manipulated zoning ordinances, fast-tracked revisions to the Comprehensive Plan, ignored the Rhode Island Open Meetings Act, ignored key components of Rhode Island's State Land Use Policies and Plan, ignored recommendations of our long-established committees and boards, ignored Planning Commission recommendations, ignored the needs of its historic town buildings and ignored recommendations made by the State Historic Preservation officer.

The list goes on, including a lack of vision and tangible improvement in the Post Road corridor, a grossly underfunded pension fund for Town employees, and questionable management of real estate dealings.

Voters, your Town Council has been under the control of the Republican Party since 2008. The time for change is overdue. Please join me on November 8 to ensure this change occurs.
