NK Woman Allegedly Intoxicated From Hand Sanitizer
Tracy Walsh, 29, of 80 Tefft St., was arrested May 20 at 10:09 a.m. on two counts of domestic assault, one count of domestic disorderly conduct and one count of domestic vandalism.
In February, police responded to Walsh’s residence after her father discovered she was drunk, reportedly from the alcohol in a bottle of Purell hand sanitizer. According to reports, her mother also found a six-inch steak knife in Walsh’s bed. Walsh was transported to Newport Hospital for treatment and returned the next day.

Later that day, Walsh allegedly assaulted a man and a woman because the woman had taken her iPod touch. According to reports, the woman had locked Walsh outside the house after Walsh charged at her. Walsh then allegedly punched through the glass panes of the door to open it, then assaulted both subjects. According to police, Walsh appeared to have been intoxicated off of hand sanitizer again. She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.
Man Allegedly Assaults Neighbor With Sledgehammer

Thomas Jason Tresler, 40, of 42 New Lexington Road, was arrested May 20 at 2:23 p.m. on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
Tresler allegedly came out of his home and began yelling at a 60-year-old neighbor to turn off her leaf blower, as she was doing yard work. When the woman told Tresler she’d be done in a few minutes, he went to his home and then came out with a sledgehammer and yelled, “I’ll stop it!” before hitting his front stairs with the sledgehammer, according to reports. As police placed Tresler in the police cruiser following the arrest, Tresler allegedly told an officer, “I was only going to hit the blower, not her.” Tresler was arraigned later that day and released on $2,000 personal recognizance.
He is set to appear in Fourth District Court on June 7.
Police Investigating Car Fire
North Kingstown police and fire arrived to the area of a car engulfed in flames near exit 5B on Route 4 at 3:20 a.m. on May 20. Crews were unable to find any victims or the owners/drivers of the vehicle.
Police contacted the owner of the vehicle, who told them her son had borrowed it that day when it broke down on Route 4. After reportedly waiting six hours for a tow from Progressive, the son was able to get a ride to Newport from a friend around 9 p.m.
After examining the car, the state fire marshal said the incident appears to be suspicious in nature. The matter is under investigation.
NK Woman Allegedly Strikes Family Member In Front Of Police
Jody Roy, 33, of 51 New Lexington Road, was arrested May 21 at 6:40 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.
According to reports, Roy became “enraged” after a phone conversation regarding custodial arrangements and began destroying her own property. When a family member attempted to intervene and calm her down, Roy allegedly struck a family member in front of an officer.

- Melanie Elizabeth Hawkins, 25, of 67 Lawton Ave., was arrested May 22 at 9:50 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license. She is set to appear in Fourth District Court on June 7.
- Jameel Dudley, 21, of 8 Sutton Lane, Apt. 301, was arrested May 21 at 2:19 a.m. following a warrant for his arrest.
