NK Police Log: Birthday Celebrations End In Domestic Assault Charges

NK Man Charged In Beachside Assault

Victor Francis Leonard, 26, of 240 Annaquatucket Road, was arrested Aug 4 at 9:40 p.m. on a felony charge of domestic assault, disorderly conduct and driving with a suspended license.

Police responded to the town beach after receiving a call from Leonard’s alleged victim, who said Leonard had assaulted her and thrown her out of his truck. When police arrived, they noted the woman had a swollen red mark above her left eye and a cut on the inside of her lip.

According to the victim, the two had driven to the beach to hang out but, when they arrived, the two began to argue about Leonard owing the victim’s brother money. Leonard allegedly told the victim he was going to beat up her brother "until he was unrecognizable," according to reports. When the woman defended her brother, Leonard allegedly became struck her multiple times with an open hand. After a brief altercation, Leonard told the woman to get out of his truck before he left the scene, according to reports.

When police found Leonard at his home, he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and confirmed he had been in an altercation with the victim, reports indicate. Leonard alleged the victim started the fight after he got a call from another woman. Leonard reportedly told police that the alleged victim threw chicken wings at him. According to police, witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim’s story.

This is Leonard’s third domestic assault charge, according to police records.

Birthday Spoiled By Domestic Assault Charges

Kyle R. Harris, 29, of 165 Namcook Road, Apt 15, was arrested Aug. 6 at 2:45 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.

According to the alleged victim, the altercation began after the two left a bar in Coventry, where they were celebrating her birthday. According to police, the alleged victim said she questioned Harris' ability to drive after drinking. (The woman said both had been drinking alcohol that night.) After Harris allegedly struck the woman in the face while driving home, she asked him to pull over and let her out. Harris then drove off and the woman found a ride home with a friend.

When the alleged victim returned home, the couple reportedly fought again. Harris allegedly began to wrestle the woman, struck her in the face several times and kicked her chest. According to reports, Harris stated the victim came home and initiated the argument.

Harris was released on $5,000 personal recognizance.

 

Phone Conversation Allegedly Prompts Domestic Vandalism

Dana Robert Hall, 19, of 101 King Phillip Drive, was arrested Aug. 6 at 4 p.m. on charges of domestic vandalism and disorderly conduct.

Hall reportedly began damaging items in his house after a telephone conversation. When a family member told Hall to control his temper, he allegedly slammed the phone down on the kitchen table, then ripped out a screen from a bedroom window. According to reports, Hall broke another item before leaving the house. Police located him on Yorktown Road.

 

Woman Charged With Writing Fake Checks

Erin Marie Griffin, 32, of 208 Beaver River Schoolhouse Road in West Kingston, was arrested Aug. 6 at 9:30 p.m. on charges of writing a fraudulent check.

In April, Griffin allegedly wrote the check to Bailey Motor Sales for $155.28. A warrant for her arrest was issued in July. Narragansett police arrested Griffin on Aug. 6 and took her into custody.

She is set to appear in Fourth District Court on Aug. 30.
