Wakefield Woman Charged With Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest.
Theresa M. Benoit, 40, of 491 Broad Rock Road in Wakefield was arrested July 31 at 1 a.m. on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
Benoit’s interaction with law enforcement began the day prior to her arrest after residents at the Extended Stay Motel on Post Road complained to police about Benoit’s behavior. According to the property manager and residents, Benoit was yelling and harassing residents and appeared to be heavily intoxicated while visiting a friend at the motel. She allegedly fled the scene before police arrived. Officers were unable to find her vehicle, but issued a no-contact order against Benoit for the motel.

A few hours later, just after midnight, Benoit allegedly contacted police to inform them about recent drug activity at the motel. When officers met Benoit at the 7-Eleven across the street, she appeared to be under influence. After failing a field sobriety test (which an officer reportedly had to cut short for Benoit’s safety due to her level of intoxicated), police took her to headquarters to be picked up by her husband, according to reports.
Twenty minutes later, after an officer had told her to wait in the lobby for her ride, another officer spotted Benoit walking northbound on Post Road, according to reports. Benoit allegedly told police she was just “going for a walk” and became argumentative with police, saying, “[Expletive] you, I didn’t break any laws.” According to her arresting officer, Benoit balled her hands into fists and appeared to be readying herself to strike the officer, at which point she was placed under arrest. Benoit allegedly resisted arrest by grabbing on to the railing near the entrance of the police department. According to reports, she also told police “you can’t make me stay here” and “I’m going to kick your [expletive].”
