NK Police Log: DUI, Break-Ins and Trespassing

Police Investigating Multiple Car Break-Ins Off Old Baptist Road

Eight residents living in neighborhoods off Old Baptist Road reported that their cars had been broken into overnight between Oct. 28 and Oct. 29. According to reports, four homes on Cold Drive, one on Scrabbletown Road and three on Browning Drive were affected. The suspect reportedly made off with a pair of sunglasses, cash, car keys, phone chargers and a GPS.

Colin Jeffrey Lewis, 29, of 112 Evergreen Rd. in North Kingstown was arrested Oct. 30 at 11:22 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence.

Police pulled Lewis over on Post Road after allegedly seeing him swerve in and out of the lanes. Officers performed a field sobriety test after Lewis allegedly told them he had left a bar in East Greenwich where he had two alcoholic beverages. Police also noted that Lewis appeared to be unsteady on his feet and repeatedly grabbed on to his car to steady himself.

After reportedly failing his field sobriety test, Lewis’ blood alcohol content measured at .173 in a preliminary breath test at the scene. At headquarters, his blood alcohol tested at .156 and .160 percent in consecutive tests – nearly twice the legal limit. Officers also allegedly found an open container of alcohol in Lewis’ car.

Woman Charged With Trespassing 

Maryann Berard, 58, was arrested Oct. 31 at 1:08 p.m. on charges of domestic willful trespassing.

According to reports, Berard arrived at a family member’s home on Peachtree Road and was seen “roaming around the property.” Another family member reportedly saw her tampering with the mailbox and then heard her repeatedly ring the doorbell for about 10 minutes before stopping.

When officers arrived and told her that there was a no trespassing order in place against her for that residence, she allegedly told officers she was not aware of the order. Officers later checked records and found the order was put in place on Oct. 1 and that Berard had acknowledged the order to officers.

Paul Rogers Noka, 25, of 915 Ten Rod Rd., Apt. 1 in North Kingstown was arrested Oct. 29 at 1:40 p.m. following a bench warrant for his arrest.

Frencis Leonor Velasquez 23, of 2 McConnell Ct. in North Kingstown was arrested Oct. 31 at 2:08 p.m. following a warrant for her arrest out of the Providence Police Department.
