Man Allegedly Hit By Car Arrested on Warrant
Michael Scott Szewczyk, 43, of 6101 Post Road, Unit 57 in North Kingstown was arrested March 8 at 2:16 p.m. following a bench warrant for his arrest.
Police initially arrived at 6101 Post Road after a man called the department about a man (later identified at Szewczyk) who struck his car. The caller told officers that he was driving into the lot when a man who was walking in the road began to move diagonally into the road, then turned and intentionally elbowed his car’s side window, causing it to fold back. According to the caller, the man told him he was going to file a claim with his insurance company.
Police found Szewczyk who allegedly told them that the caller drove into him and he never saw the car coming, telling police, “I was in the road. I guess it’s on me, but that guy could have beeped his horn.” He added that his friend had picked him up immediately afterward and the two were going to go somewhere to call police, but instead went to Dunkin’ Donuts and got a coffee. The man stated he was not injured.
While checking his idea, police discovered that Szewczyk was wanted on a bench warrant for failure to appear in court.
