Therrien allegedly told police the car belonged to her passenger, but she chose to drive it because she believed he had drank too much that evening. According to reports, 19-year-old Therrien appeared to be under the influence but initially denied drinking that evening. After admitting to drinking alcohol, Therrien consented to a field sobriety test. After allegedly failing the test, Therrien’s blood alcohol measured at .146 in a preliminary breath test. Her passenger, the owner of the car, allegedly passed his field sobriety test and drove the vehicle home as Therrien was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. At headquarters, her blood alcohol level measured at .132 and .135.
During questioning, Therrien allegedly admitted that the owner of the car let her drive it around the neighborhood because she “looked the car.” She also allegedly told police she had one drink that evening, but it was “very strong and big.” Police noted that she was apologetic and extremely polite throughout the incident.

DUI Suspect to Police: 'I'm Not Refusaling Anything'
Samuel Thomas Richter, 21, of 42 Gardner Ave. in North Kingstown was arrested July 18 at 10:24 p.m. on charges of drunken driving and refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Police pulled Richter over after he allegedly failed to stop at a yield sign in Wickford Village, nearly striking a police cruiser and another car stopped at a stop sign. During the stop, Richter allegedly immediately began to accuse the officer of running a stop sign. According to reports, he also appeared to be under the influence.
Initially, Richter allegedly told police that he had not been drinking alcohol that evening. After Richter allegedly used the side of his car to balance himself, he told officers he had two beers at “Ricky’s house,” but refused to elaborate on the identity of Ricky.
Richter’s blood alcohol level measured at .196 in a preliminary breath test after he failed his field sobriety test, according to reports.
After officers placed him under arrest and read him his rights, Richter allegedly began yelling from the back of the police car, “I’m a human being. What the [expletive] am I doing here?” When an officer asked him to clarify what he meant, he allegedly said, “You’ll never understand. I’m a [expletive] human being.”
Once at headquarters, Richter became more agitated – punching the walls in the processing room and yelling, according to reports. Richter allegedly continued to be argumentative when officers asked if he would take a breath test. When an officer told Richter that his arguing and lack of answer would be treated as a refusal, Richter allegedly said, “I’m not refusaling anything” and began demanding to know the officer’s address, according to reports. Richter allegedly held his breath when police attempted to administer the Breathalyzer and at one point used his tongue to stop air from passing through the mouthpiece.
He is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on Aug. 7.
