NK Police Log: DUIs, Lost Motorcycles & Dog Droppings

The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

DUI Suspect Loses Motorcycle

North Kingstown police officers were called to the Route 4 and Tower Hill Road junction for a possible motor vehicle accident. At the scene, officers allegedly found several feet of debris in the roadway and a yellow motorcycle in the center median, which police determined had fallen off a trailer while it was being towed.

The owner of the motorcycle was later found in South Kingstown after officers arrested the man, identified as David Cihat, 41, of 1090 Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown. According to South Kingstown police, officers arrested Cihat for suspected drunken driving after he was spotted towing an upside down trailer in their town.

NK Residents’ Debit Card Used to Fund Porn Site

According to reports, a North Kingstown woman discovered that someone had been fraudulently used her debit card to pay for a website since December 2011. Monthly payments were allegedly withdrawn from the woman’s joint account with her husband by Tritech.org — which develops and maintains websites for clients. According to police, the website that was created with the service was “of pornographic nature.” In their investigation, police determined that the point of origin of the sales is in California but told the woman it would be “very difficult” to track down the culprit.

NK Teen Charged After Allegedly Shoving Officer

Nicholas Morra, 19, of Yorktown Road, was arrested May 19 at 6:30 p.m. on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.

Police responded to Morra’s residence for a reported child abuse when, during questioning, Morra allegedly shoved an officer. Following the investigation and conversations with witnesses, poloice determined no child abuse took place and the matter was only a verbal argument between Morra and another woman.

Gansett Man Charged With DUI

Matthew William Boggs, 29, of 35 Maple Ave. in Narragansett, was arrested May 19 at 11:36 p.m. on charges of drunken driving and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

A woman called the North Kingstown Police Department to report that an alleged intoxicated man was driving in circle around Dayton Court. During her call with dispatch, the woman reportedly got into her car and was driving toward Narragansett when she realized that the man, driving a Jeep, was following her.

According to reports, police pulled the man over on Tower Hill Road near Route 4 where he told officers that he was driving to a bar in Wakefield and was following friends in the car ahead of him. Police noted that the man appeared to be under the influence and conducted a field sobriety test – which he allegedly failed.

According to police, the man was given his opportunity to make a confidential telephone call once officers brought him into custody at the police station, but apparently had difficulty placing the call: dispatch relayed to the officers that the man was allegedly calling the police station. Police allegedly had to dial the number for the man.

He is scheduled for arraignment on June 5 in Third District Court.

Two Woman Allegedly Argue Over Dog Droppings

Police were called in to resolve an issue between two women in their 40s who were in disagreement regarding dog feces. One woman lives on Lake Drive next to Davisville Elementary School and allegedly told officers that the other woman frequently walks her dog in the area and, though she does pick up her dog’s droppings and put them in a bag, she leaves the bag wherever her dog did its business. According to reports, two months ago someone took one of the bags of dog feces and placed it along the walkway that the woman uses to access the school. The person also allegedly left a note telling the dog owner to properly dispose of their dog’s excrement.

Afterward, the Lake Drive resident found a note on her tree addressed to her. The note was allegedly sarcastic in nature and made references to the resident leaving the package on the walkway and mentioning that the woman was doing a great job as the “poop police.”

Last weekend, the women allegedly exchanged words over the incident. This past weekend, the resident received an email from the woman that was allegedly “nicely worded” but for the most part was trying to get the woman to admit to leaving the excrement on the walkway, saying “Just be honest and the whole ordeal will be over.”

Police issued a no-trespass order on the Lake Drive resident’s property against the dog owner. Police spoke to the dog owner, who reportedly said that she had only failed to pick up her dog’s droppings one time.
