Post-Drink Scuffle Lands Two in Handcuffs
Michael P. Northup, 46, of 105 Stony Lane in Exeter and Albert Steven Perrault, 46, of 6101 Post Rd., Apt. 92 in North Kingstown were both arrested Aug. 20 at 2:20 a.m. on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.
According to reports, the two men were drinking at Kingstown Bowl that night with friends when Perrault invited the group back to his residence. Once there, Northup (who was “heavily intoxicated,” according to witnesses) allegedly began to yell and scream loudly, causing Perrault and his roommate to repeatedly ask him to leave. When those attempts failed, Northup and Perrault allegedly began to punch and shove each other. According to police, Perrault showed no notable injuries while Northup sported several cuts and scrapes to his neck and face area and a bite mark on his pectoral.

Police Discover ‘Homeless Campsite’ Behind Liquor Store
Police searched the area behind after a nearby resident reported that a homeless camp had been set up in the area. When police arrived at the area, they found a “well-camouflaged” lean-to built into the side of a slope. Inside was a carpeted pallet, a cooler and a dog dish. Police found a man loitering in the area: the man had been evicted from a similar camp in the area by another officer the week prior. Though the man told police he had no knowledge of the camp, police allegedly found a piece of paper with his name on it inside the structure. According to reports, another man (whose mother lives in the area) was supposedly living in the shelter with his dog. Police asked the mother to tell her son to remove the camp.

SK Woman Arrested Again by NK Officers
Theresa Michelle Benoit, 40, of 491 Broad Rock Rd. in South Kingstown was arrested Aug. 20 at 2:29 p.m. on charges of filing a false police report and providing false information to 911.
According to police reports, Benoit was brought to police headquarters on July 31 after she was reportedly intoxicated and disturbing residents at the Extended Stay Motel. When officers told her to stay in the lobby of the police department, Benoit allegedly attempted to walk back toward her car. She was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
The following day, after her court appearance, Benoit filed a civilian complaint at the . Hours later, she began to repeatedly call the police station to speak to a captain to file a complaint. Officers and dispatch told Benoit to leave a message and a captain would get back to her.
Minutes later, Benoit allegedly contacted the police department again – this time via 911. According to reports, Benoit told the 911 operator that she was being harassed at the parking lot of in North Kingstown – except she wasn’t at 7-Eleven. According to 911’s GPS tracking, Benoit had placed the call from her home in South Kingstown. Officers from the South Kingstown Police Department found Benoit at her home on Broad Rock Road eight minutes after her last call. According to reports, Benoit told the officers she had placed the call at the 7-Eleven in North Kingstown and then drove home to South Kingstown. A clerk working at 7-Eleven during that time told police he did not see any disturbances in or outside the store.
A warrant was issued for her arrest on Aug. 8 and police found Benoit drinking at on Aug. 20 and arrested her.
Live Grenade Found at Construction Site
A worker at a construction site at 7456 Post Road called police after finding a grenade while excavating a wooded lot less than a mile from Post Road. When police arrived, an officer quickly determined that the device was a fragmentation grenade and was still intact with a primer and fuse. The North Kingstown Fire Department and State Fire Marshal’s Office responded and took custody of the grenade. Police and other personnel searched the area but found no other devices.

David Malave, 24, of 106 Hawkins St. in Providence was arrested Aug. 20 at 11:40 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.
