NK Police Log: Man Allegedly Assaults Woman, Drives to Domestic Violence Class

Man Drives to Domestic Violence Class After Alleged Assault

Keith Henry Silva, 39, of 60 Cattail Ln. Apt 4 in North Kingstown, was arrested Dec. 26 at 9:45 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Silva allegedly punched a woman in the face after an argument. According to reports, the argument began after the victim wanted to show him what she bought that day at the store, to which he told her they “didn’t need that [expletive].” Silva then allegedly threw her pocketbook and purchases around the kitchen.

Silva then allegedly told her he was “all done with her and that he could punch her in the face.” When the woman told him to go ahead and punch her, Silva allegedly did so. South Kingstown officers picked up Silva as he was in the area for domestic violence classes in Peace Dale.

This is Silva’s third domestic assault offense – a felony charge.

NK Man Charged With Disorderly Conduct

Edward Demy Crofton Jr., 51, of 60 Woodland Drive in North Kingstown, was arrested Dec. 27 at 12:16 a.m. on charges of disorderly conduct.

Crofton’s mother called police and requested that her son, who was “highly intoxicated,” be transported to Kent County Hospital for detoxification. As police waited for rescue to arrive, Crofton allegedly started to swear at the officers and screamed “I’m not going!” Crofton also allegedly began to clench his fists and threaten to kill two officers as police held him against the side of the house.

At the hospital, Crofton allegedly continued to be verbally abusive toward staff and had to be restrained by hospital security. The ER staff determined that, based on Crofton’s alcohol level, he would be sedated and held in the emergency room for 27 hours.

He is set to appear in Third District Court on Jan. 24.

Maine Teen Charged With Pot Possession

Ronald Wright, 18, of 7 Kittridge Brook Road in West Paris in Maine, was arrested Dec. 26 at 12:10 a.m. on charges of possession of marijuana.

Two detectives saw Wright and another teen walking down Lafayette Road wearing dark clothing and carrying a knapsack. When the detectives asked the teens what was in the bag, Wright’s friend told them it was two cans of soda before admitting that there were two cans of beer in the bag. While searching Wright, police found a knife, a black scale used to weigh narcotics and a small plastic baggy with marijuana inside.

Man Allegedly Slaps, Spits On Woman

David E. Robinson, 53, of 1105 Tower Hill Road Apt. 11 in North Kingstown, was arrested Dec. 20 at 10:30 p.m. on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.

Robinson allegedly arrived at the victim’s apartment and accused her of assaulting his girlfriend. According to reports, Robinson spit on the woman and slapped her across the face after the victim denied the allegation.

He is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on Jan. 24.

Home Ec Stove Ignites Notebook

Firefighters from the North Kingstown Fire Department arrived at Wickford Middle School shortly after students had been dismissed for winter break. According to reports, a top burner on an older model stove in the home economics rooms was left on, igniting a notebook. The fire was put out by a teacher prior to firefighters’ arrival.

  • James Richard Dean, 18, of 21 Ebony Ct. in North Kingstown, was arrested Dec. 21 at 12:10 a.m. on charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct. Dean allegedly assaulted a 21-year-old man at a party on Dec. 11.  He is set to appear in Third District Court on Jan. 24.
  • Dominic Xavier Hazzard, 24, of 25 Dayton Ct. in North Kingstown, was arrested Dec. 24 at 4:59 p.m. on charges of shoplifting from Kohl’s. According to reports, Hazzard attempted to steal a bottle of LaCoste cologne and a wallet, valued at $68 total.
