NK Police Log: Man Charged Up Over Missing Charger
The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Robert Joseph Barcellos, 33, of 51 Harrison Street in North Kingstown, was arrested May 17 at 9:52 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic violence.
The assault was prompted by an argument between Barcellos and a 21-year-old woman. The victim was driving him home when Barcellos allegedly begged her to stop at the liquor store. The woman reportedly became upset because Barcellos was recovering from a stomach condition and was advised not to drink alcohol.
When the two arrived back at the residence, the woman began to gather her things to leave, but Barcellos allegedly refused to let her use his phone to call for a ride and told her, “You’re making a big mistake. You’re going to regret it.”

The victim returned to the house after using a neighbor’s phone, at which time Barcellos allegedly hit her in the head with a set of car keys. Police noted she had redness and a scrape on her neck from the alleged assault. He also allegedly held her down by choking her.
While the woman waited outside for her ride, Barcellos reportedly shoved her to the ground and accused her of taking his phone charger. Police noted that she had fresh grass stains on her knees.

Police arrived to question Barcellos and, according to reports, believed he was under the influence of alcohol. Barcellos allegedly told police he had been drinking Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Due to the fact that the victim had visible injuries and two witnesses corroborated the story, police placed him under arrest for domestic assault – his third offense. He was released on $1,000 surety bail.
