NK Police Log: Man Receives More 'Suspicious' Packages From Sister

On Dec. 5, the man brought a letter he had received from his sister in New York to police after discovering a white powdery substance inside. A member of the and FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force tested the substance and was unable to identify it, but deemed it was not harmful.
On Dec. 7, the man called police after receiving two white boxes and a manila envelope, once again from his sister. The man had not talked to his sister, who changed her name to Tira Misu in the 1980s while living in Florida, since 2007. The man told police he was more concerned that his sister was sending him narcotics rather than a chemical or biological substance.

Inside the packages, police found assorted food and gift items – such as fudge, coffee grinds, vodka and a glass vase – and a note wishing the man a happy holiday and instructing him to use the glass vase for their mother’s gravesite.
Man Charged With Domestic Assault, Disorderly Conduct

Timothy J. Doyle, 36, of 33 Eileen Drive in North Kingstown, was arrested Dec. 7 at 1 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.
Doyle got into an argument with a woman over a car accident he had been in three days prior. During the argument, Doyle allegedly shoved the woman, injuring her back and forearms. Police interviewed the woman at South County Hospital where she was treated for her injuries.
He is slated to appear in Third District Court on Jan. 10.
Man Loses Part of Finger in Accident at Electric Boat
A 50-year-old West Greenwich man lost part of a finger in an accident at . According to police, the man tripped and tried catching himself on an air-powered machine with a spinning blade. As he stumbled, the man’s finger became lodged in the machine, causing a portion of it to be cut off. Since the accident was not caused by a malfunction, it was not deemed an industrial accident.
Warwick Man Charged With Stealing Woman's Wallet
Donald Peter Corvese Jr., 36, of 45 Little Field Road in Warwick, was arrested Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. on charges of stealing a woman’s wallet outside of .
According to reports, Corvese saw a woman drop her wallet while at checkout at Job Lot and stole it. Initially, Corvese allegedly told police he found the wallet outside. According to police, Corvese dropped off his wife and children before withdrawing $200 from an ATM at Sunnybrook Farms convenience store in East Greenwich. Police were able to identify Corvese from the surveillance tape and took him into custody.
Corvese told officers he figured he was going to get caught so he didn’t spend the $200. The wallet was turned over to police along with the cash. Corvese allegedly told officers he had used $50 in cash he found in the wallet for cigarettes and gas. Corvese also faces a charge of computer access from the East Greenwich Police Department in addition to North Kingstown’s larceny charge.
