Man Allegedly Assaults Roommate Over Comment

Jeffrey Bryan Rudgers, 48, of 7255 Post Rd., Apt. 13 in North Kingstown was arrested July 28 at 2:59 a.m. on charges of domestic disorderly conduct and a felony charge of domestic assault – his third offense.

Rudgers allegedly assaulted his roommate at Extended Stay after said roommate told Rudgers “I can’t wait until you move out.” (According to the victim, Rudgers was intoxicated and was being “loud and obnoxious” at the time.) Rudgers allegedly retaliated by punching the man three or four times in the face. A witness reportedly saw Rudgers throw a chair at the roommate as he tried to leave the apartment. (Rudgers’ throw allegedly missed the man.)

This is Rudgers’ third domestic assault charge. He was convicted of his first in 1997 and his second in 2002.

Assault Suspect Tries to Flush Drugs Down Toilet

Lacey Ingrid Duran, 34, of 7 State St., Apt. M in North Kingstown was arrested July 28 at 1:40 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and domestic disorderly conduct.

Duran reportedly got into a fight with a former boyfriend over her alleged drug use. According to the witness, the argument began when Duran returned to the apartment with marijuana. As the man attempted to leave, he allegedly found a “crack pipe” on the floor of Duran’s bedroom.

After discovering the crack pipe, the man contacted police as he was concerned for his children’s safety: the victim and Duran have two children in common who stay at Duran’s apartment. As the man called police, Duran allegedly began to yell and scream and punched him in the side of the head, right shoulder and back. Duran allegedly tried to dispose of the drugs before police arrived by flushing it down the toilet, but was thwarted by the man. (According to reports, she shredded the marijuana and threw it out the window.)

Duran allegedly admitted to hitting the man, telling officers, “Yes I slapped him, but I didn’t really hurt him.” Duran was arrested and released from the North Kingstown Police Department on $1,000 personal recognizance.
