NK Police Log: Slumbering Bicyclist Cited With Public Drunkenness

NK Teen Caught With Pot, Bottle of Beer

Thaddeus S. Eckert, 18, of 454 Ten Rod Road, was arrested March 23 at 10:45 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by an underaged person.

Responding to a business alarm at , police allegedly saw Eckert quickly walk away from the area. While speaking with Eckert, officers reported noticing a bulge in his shirt and asked to frisk him. When the 18-year-old Eckert — who reportedly appeared nervous during questioning — put his hands behind his head, an unopened, 40-ounce bottle of Olde English beer allegedly fell from his shirt. According to reports, officers also found marijuana in Eckert’s pocket.

Eckert was held at the North Kingstown Police Department as a bail violator.

Slumbering Bicyclist Cited for Public Drunkenness

Douglas James Davidson Jr., 49, of North Kingstown, was arrested on March 24 at 5:15 p.m. on charges of possession of a weapon, and was cited for public drunkenness.

Officers responded to the entrance of Ryan Park to find Davidson asleep between two rocks. According to reports, Davidson was only wearing one shoe. The other was lying beside him. Officers noted that Davidson seemed “highly intoxicated with extremely slurred speech” and an “extremely disheveled appearance.” After making several unsuccessful attempts to sit up, Davidson rolled over — exposing an 11-inch-long, rusty knife with a 6-inch-long blade. Davidson was brought to the hospital for treatment and detoxification.

He is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on April 10.

"Click It or Ticket" Campaign Nabs One in NK

Josef Charles Antinucci, 44, of 376 Williams Reynolds Road in Exeter, was arrested March 24 at 9 p.m. on charges of driving on a suspended license and a bench warrant.

While on a “Click It or Ticket” detail on Quaker Lane, a North Kingstown police officer allegedly saw Antinucci not wearing his seatbelt as he drove past. While performing a check of Antinucci’s identification, the officer found that his license had been suspended and had an active warrant for his arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in Third District Court on April 10.

Woman Arrested Two Years After Using Fraudulent Check

Shana A. Ortiz, 32, of 69 Eileen Drive, was arrested March 25 at 6:02 p.m. on charges of fraudulent use of checks.

According to reports, Ortiz used a fraudulent check for $42.38 at Dave’s Marketplace in Quonset on Nov. 15, 2009. More than two years later, Ortiz was arrested by Narragansett police on the warrant for her arrest and transported to the North Kingstown Police Department. She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance.

Alleged Shoplifter Charged With Trespassing at Job Lot

Teresa J. Green, 54, of 55 Arcadia Drive, was arrested March 25 at 12:17 p.m. on charges of willful trespassing.

A manager at contacted police after Green came to the store to return an item. The week before, Green had allegedly been caught shoplifting and had been issued a no-trespass order for the property.

She is set to appear in Third District Court on April 10.

Warwick Woman Charged With Stealing From Dave's

Diane G. Pinto, 67, of 777 Cowesett Road, Apt. C102 in Warwick, was arrested March 26 at 12:18 p.m. on charges of shoplifting.

Employees at in Quonset allegedly saw Pinto leave the store without paying for several items — including a pack of blueberry muffins, two garden salads, two bananas, three rolls and flowers. The total cost of the stolen items was $23.15.

Another employee was able to get Pinto’s license plate, allowing police to put out a bulletin for her vehicle. While North Kingstown police were still on scene, Warwick police notified them that they had pulled Pinto over on Cowesett Road. According to reports, Pinto immediately told Warwick police that she had made a mistake and wanted to return to Dave’s to pay for the items.

She is scheduled for arraignment on April 10.

Melissa Clark, 42, of 240 Railroad Ave. in Slocum, was arrested March 24 at 6:08 p.m. on a warrant for her arrest.
