Man Charged With Shoplifting From Dave's Marketplace
William J. McMillan, 59, of 70 Newtown Ave., Apt. B in North Kingstown was arrested May 10 at 6 p.m. on charges of shoplifting from .

According to reports, McMillan stole two bottles of seasoning by placing them in his pockets. Initially, McMillan allegedly told a store employee that he forgot to pay for the bottles during checkout, but later admitted that he planned on stealing the two items.
He is scheduled for arraignment in Third District Court on May 22.

Woman Hit With Felony After Allegedly Taking Family Member's Car
Maryann Berard, 57, of 203 Annaquatucket Rd. in North Kingstown was arrested May 10 at 5:40 p.m. on a felony charge of driving a vehicle without the consent of its owner.
According to reports, Berard took a family member’s car without permission. The family member told that she saw Berard (who does not own a vehicle) crossing the street toward her house. Thirty minutes later, the family member allegedly discovered that the car was missing.
Later that day, another family member who works at the allegedly called the car’s owner and told her that Berard was at the post office. According to reports, police pulled Berard over on Post Road just north of the post office.
Man Charged With DUI After Leaving All-American
Daniel Patrick Welby, 35, of 32 Saratoga Rd. in North Kingstown was arrested May 11 at 1:06 a.m. on charges of drunken driving and refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Police pulled over Welby’s vehicle after seeing it allegedly swerve on Post Road. According to reports, Welby told the officer he was heading to after leaving . When the officer asked Welby why he pulled into the parking lot of instead of 7-Eleven, Welby allegedly began to stumble over his words and was unable to explain his reasoning. According to the officer, Welby’s eyes were “extremely” bloodshot and he smelled of alcohol.
Welby allegedly told the officer he had two alcoholic drinks at the bar before refusing to take a field sobriety test. According to reports, he began to speak loudly toward police, stating, “There are people at the bar that drink every night” and “What about the scumbags on my street? You should be after them.” He also was allegedly unsteady on his fault and almost fell into an officer.

Frederick A. Taylor, 60, of 3388 Kingstown Rd. in West Kingston was arrested May 9 at 2 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.
James Michael O’Connor, 20, of 21 Thayer Ave. in Narragansett was arrested May 13 at 5:55 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.
