NK Police Log: Stolen Copper, Box of Drugs & More

Copper Stolen From Cell Phone Tower

During the early hours of Jan. 30, nearly 50 to 60 pounds of copper were stolen from the cell phone tower and compound next to Quaker Lane Bait & Tackle on Route 2. According to reports, the suspect (or multiple suspects) cut through the fence of the compound owned by T-Mobile and stole copper grounding cables, antenna cables, and other copper parts to the tune of $4,000. The repairs for the damage are expected to cost between $6,000 and $7,000.

Box of Drug Paraphernalia Found Outside Hotel

A manager at the Marriott TownePlace Suites in Quonset reportedly found a sneaker box filled with drug paraphernalia in the hotel’s parking lot. Inside the box, police found five pairs of headphones, three phone wall chargers, two packs of rolling papers, a glass marijuana pipe, a handheld smoking device, a plastic bowl with marijuana inside, metal marijuana grinder and 20 grams of marijuana.

Intoxicated Woman Found at Gregg’s Restaurant

On Feb. 2, employees at Gregg’s Restaurant contacted the North Kingstown Police Department to report an intoxicated woman at the bar. According to reports, the woman had entered the bar area of the restaurant and ordered a glass of wine. After the wine, employees reported that the woman appeared to be impaired and slurred her speech. A manager shut off the woman’s bar tab and offered to find the woman a ride home. According to reports, the woman then tried to leave the bar, prompting employees to call the police. When police arrived, they noticed the woman’s car had new damage on its side and that she was disoriented and had difficulty maintaining her balance. She was transported to South County Hospital for treatment.

Josefina Dacosta, 51, of 118 Levesque Street in Warwick was arrested Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license. 

Michael Anthony Raposa, 53, of 82 Wildwood Trl. in East Greenwich was arrested Jan. 29 at 10:58 p.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.

Emmanuel Gook Nuh, 23, of 20 Dora Street in Providence was arrested Feb. 2 at 2:30 a.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.
