NK Police Log: Stop & Shop Employee Charged With Shoplifting

NK Teen Charged With Shoplifting From Kohl's

Alixandra F. McAdams, 18, of 141 Stone Gate Drive, was arrested Sept. 22 at 4:26 p.m. on charges of shoplifting from Kohl’s.

McAdams allegedly took items from the jewelry, intimates and juniors departments of the store and brought them into a fitting room. According to reports, she left the room without any of the items in sight. After she left the store, a Kohl’s employee confronted McAdams and they returned inside. The cost of the merchandise was $225.

Richmond Man Charged with DUI

James Edward Crudden, 30, of 43 Sherman Ave. Apt. A in Richmond, was arrested Sept. 23 at 12:36 a.m. on charges of drunken driving and driving on a suspended license.

While driving down Post Road, an officer allegedly saw Crudden swerving in and out of lanes. After pulling Crudden over, the officer learned his license was suspended.

After reportedly failing his field sobriety test, Crudden’s blood alcohol content allegedly measured at .159 percent in a preliminary test. The legal limit in Rhode Island is .08.

Narragansett Teen Charged With Marijuana Possession

Richard Hamilton Young II, 18, of 11 Merriweather Ave. in Narragansett, was arrested Sept. 26 at 10:45 p.m. on charges of possession of marijuana.

Police pulled Young over after he allegedly drove through a red light. According to reports, an officer found a “dime bag" of marijuana and several glass smoking devices inside Young’s car.

Young is due in Third District Court on Oct. 18.

Stop & Shop Employee Charged With Shoplifting

Robert Lewis Spitznagel Jr., 32, of 14 Saran Drive in Johnston, was arrested Sept. 27 at 3 a.m. on charges of shoplifting from Stop & Shop.

According to a loss prevention officer with Stop & Shop, Spitznagel (who is a Stop & Shop employee) had been inappropriately using a reduced cost code 32 times at multiple stores to pay less for his purchases. In one case, Spitznagel allegedly paid $2.83 for a soup and sandwich which should have cost $6.28. Spitznagel reportedly told officers he only used the code because he was hungry and could not afford to eat and pay bills, saying “I did not do it because I wanted to steal. I did it because I could not afford to live.”

He is due in Third District Court on Oct. 18.

  • Monique Irwin, 27, of 31 N. Main Road in Jamestown, was arrested Sept. 22 at 11:19 p.m. on charges of violating a no-contact order.
  • Chester Hiram Carpenter, 77, of 6101 Post Road, Apt. 48, was arrested Sept. 26 at 8:54 p.m. on charges of violating a no-contact order.
  • Carolyn Elizabeth Cotter, 23, of 903 Providence Place, Apt. 206 in Providence, was arrested Oct. 1 at 8:57 p.m. on a warrant for her arrest.
