Last year, Mitchell was staying in an apartment next to the victims on Ranger Road. On Aug. 11, the family noticed a safe containing three firearms (a Heritage .40 caliber, semiautomatic pistol; a Taurus .38 caliber revolver; and a Derringer .22 caliber revolver) and “a lot of jewelry” had been stolen. The estimated value of all items was $37,450. The family allegedly suspected Mitchell, who had apparently fled the area. Mitchell’s father said his son had called him and said he was leaving the state following the incident.
According to reports from the Charlestown Police Department, Mitchell was also suspected in a larceny of firearms the month prior. Fingerprint analysis linked Mitchell to both thefts. In March, a grand jury convened and indicted Mitchell on the breaking and entering charges.
After nearly a year, Mitchell was located and taken to the ACI by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force.
NK Man Turns Self In Seven Months After Alleged Incident
Richard P. Cramer, 43, of 257 Wickham Road, was arrested July 19 at 8:40 a.m. on charges of domestic disorderly conduct and making harassing phone calls.
In December, a 42-year-old woman reported to police that she had received threatening calls from Cramer. The woman alleged Cramer had called her about 20 times throughout the day. At 6:13 a.m., she said she received a text message from Cramer saying he was down the street. At 7:50 a.m., she heard a knock at her door but did not answer it, according to reports. During his calls to the woman, Cramer allegedly threatened to break her neck and kill her.
While police searched for Cramer, the woman found out he has been admitted to a hospital in New Jersey, where he worked. On July 19, Cramer responded to the North Kingstown Police Department with his attorney.
He is set to appear in Fourth District Court on Aug. 16.
Wakefield Man Allegedly Eludes Police, Crashes Into Tree
Gerald P. Marr, 19, of 35 Straw Lane in Wakefield, was arrested July 19 at 8:58 a.m. on charges of reckless driving.
Police allegedly clocked Marr traveling at 79 mph in a 50-mph zone on Tower Hill Road near Shermantown Road. After the officer turned on his emergency lights, Marr’s Honda Accord appeared to accelerate and abruptly turn right onto Gilbert Stuart Road. On Gilbert Stuart Road, the officer encountered a white van pulled off to the side of the road. The driver of the van reportedly told police that a car had passed him at a high rate of speed. “I think that car must have been doing 80; I’m afraid that I’m going to find that car smashed somewhere up the road,” the driver told police.
Further up the road, the officer found the Accord had driven about 100 feet up a driveway and collided with a wooden fence and a tree, resulting in heavy front-end damage to the car. The officer also noted that both the driver- and passenger-side air bags had deployed. According to police, the officer found Marr (along with the homeowner) at the scene unhurt.
Marr allegedly said he eluded police because his car was not registered. According to reports, Marr asked officers, “Do you think my insurance company will cover the cost of the car?”
He is set to appear in Fourth District Court on Aug. 2.
