The following information was supplied by the North Kingstown Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

'If I Ever Really Assaulted You, You Wouldn't Be Walking'

Neighbors in the Oak Tree Drive area, who have been on high alert lately due to several break-ins in the area, contacted police after see a suspicious Asian male wearing a backpack. According to the caller, the man was apparently looking into yard and houses from the street.
According to police, when officers confronted Ngu at the corner of Greanmeadow Circle and Brookside Drive he told them his name was Kiet Won and allegedly gave an incorrect date of birth and address. Ngu told police he was in the area because a classmate at CCRI who lives on New Lexington Road was going to give him a ride to class today. Ngu was unable to give police any additional information about the female classmate, including her last name, address or phone number. He was also unable to explain to officers why he was almost near School Street if the classmate lived on New Lexington. Ngu also allowed police to look through his backpack, which only contained a sweatshirt.
Police then told Ngu to go straight home before an officer went to check his supposed residence at 43 Yorktown Rd. The resident at that home had never heard of Kiet Won, prompting the officer to go back to find Ngu. According to reports, Ngu confirmed that he had given police incorrect information about his name, birth date and address. Officers arrested Ngu on charges of obstruction and, while on the way to the North Kingstown Police Department, Ngu allegedly uttered, “I don’t even go to CCRI.”
Detectives than began to investigation the situation and early this month interviewed Ngu, who allegedly told them he had been looking to break into a house near New Lexington Road on the day of his arrest. On his first attempt, Ngu was unable to open a window screen and then went on to search for another house when police confronted him. Ngu also allegedly admitted to breaking into two houses earlier that week – one on Thursday and another on Saturday – where he stole a Playstation game console with games, two iPod docking stations, Wii console, an iPad 2 and some jewelry. Ngu kept all the stolen goods at his home, except for the iPad 2 which he allegedly sold to a Hispanic couple at the North Kingstown Free Library for $300.
Ngu told officers that he began breaking into houses to get money to help his mother become an American citizen. According to reports, Ngu told police he was trying to get into the Marines but was told both of his parents needed to be American citizens in order for him to get clearance.
Other Arrests...
John Joseph Cunningham, 26, of 1369 Argyle Way in Bensalem, PA was arrested Oct. 9 at 1 a.m. on charges of driving with a suspended license.
