Woman Busted For Pot Possession After DUI Stop
Sandra Lynn Lewis, 48, of 35 High St. in Ashaway, was arrested March 5 at 12:10 a.m. on charges of drunken driving, possession of marijuana and driving in possession of a controlled substance.
Police pulled Lewis over after a witness called the North Kingstown Police Department regarding an erratic driver on Post Road. According to the witness, the driver was “all over the lanes of the road” and had come to a complete stop at a green light outside of Wickford Village.
According to reports, Lewis told police that she was driving erratically because she was trying to use her GPS through her phone. Lewis allegedly told police that she was coming from Warwick, where she had two beers about two hours before driving. Police noted that Lewis had “extremely” bloodshot, watery eyes, appeared to be under the influence and was “outwardly perplexed” when asked where she was coming from or where she was.
During her field sobriety test, Lewis allegedly said, “I just can’t do the test; I’m too fat.” After failing the test, Lewis’ blood alcohol measured at .055 percent – following two unsuccessful attempts to give an adequate sample.
Inside Lewis’ car, police found a large open bottle of Three Olives vodka and 23 grams of marijuana in a glass jar. She was transported to Kent County Hospital for a blood test before being brought to the North Kingstown Police Department.
