NK Police Log: Two Cell Phone-Related Arrests & A DUI

Man Charged With Domestic Assault
Merle K. Peirce, 67, of 1 Bates Ave., was arrested on July 14 at 11 p.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.
When police responded to a complaint of a disturbance, the alleged victim said he and Peirce were in an argument when Peirce began chasing the victim in the yard and knocked him to the ground. As a result of the struggle, the victim allegedly had a ripped shirt and mild abrasions to his torso and back area. The victim also said that when he attempted to call 911, Peirce grabbed the cell phone and threw it across the yard.

Prior to police arrival, Peirce had left the scene. Police found Peirce at a residence nearby. He was arrested and brought to headquarters where he admitted to wrestling, tearing the shirt of the victim and throwing the victim’s cell phone.
Man Arrested After Woman Heard Screaming For Help

Christopher Joseph Derosa, 45, of 50 Bea Drive, Apt. 7, was arrested on July 15 at 3:30 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.
Police found Derosa standing on the front lawn smoking when they pulled up to the address where there had been a call about a woman screaming for help. Police report Derosa was immediately confrontational and reluctant to provide his identity. According to reports, when police told him about the phone call and asked him about the situation, he said there was no one else home. Police asked if they could check inside to see if there was anyone and Derosa agreed. After finding a woman’s shoes and purse, one officer spoke with another, who said there have been similar incidents with the same two people in the past.
After police received an anonymous call stating the victim was at a neighbor's house, they found the victim, who appeared emotional, visibly upset and highly intoxicated. The victim said she and Derosa had been out drinking and had gotten into an argument after he nearly crashed their vehicle driving home, she said. The victim said she had gotten out to walk home and had found a ride with a stranger, who she let in the house to use the bathroom.
According to the victim, Derosa become enraged at her for having another man in the house and began screaming at her, throwing his phone at her. The victim alleged Derosa aproached her in the garage but she grabbed his phone off the ground and ran out the back door yelling for help.
Police arrested Derosa and transported him to headquarters.
Man Arrested For Violating No Contact Order
Stephen Fuoroli, 58, of 600 Ten Rod Road, Apt. 1, was arrested on July 16 at 12:50 a.m. on charges of domestic assault and disorderly conduct.
Police responded to the headquarters lobby for an assault complaint from the victim who said that, earlier in the evening, Fuoroli had assaulted her. She told police she had contacted him to retrieve a possession of hers and Fuoroli told her he would leave it in his apartment for her when he went out.
When she returned to her home, Fuoroli was there and got into her car, telling her to drive him to a pharmacy in Jamestown. In the victim's statement, she said, “his face was bright red, he was diaphoretic and angry, I really thought he was going to kill me.”
When they arrived at the pharmacy, Fuoroli allegedly grabbed her arm and took her inside. The victim filled her prescription for Adderall (90 count), which Fuoroli paid for. According to reports, when they arrived back at her residence, a struggle ensued outside the vehicle for her pocketbook and prescription. The victim said Fuoroli wrestled her pocketbook away from her and struck her in the head with it, knocking her out. Police noted the victim had an abrasion and swelling of her right ear, along with bruises on her upper arms. She also said she had bruises on her upper leg area. When the victim was was driving away, Fuoroli was allegedly throwing rocks at the rear of her vehicle.
Fuoroli was located, arrested and transported to headquarters, where he was later arraigned, issued a no contact order with the victim and released on a $1,000 personal recognizance.
Police Arrest Man For Drunken Driving
Trevor J. Campbell, 32, of 34 Plum Point Road, was arrested on July 17 at 1 a.m. on charges of driving under the influence.
Police pulled Campbell over after allegedly seeing him swerve and drive in the lane of opposing traffic. Police noted that Campbell, the driver, was shaking uncontrollably when they approached him. When asked why he was shaking, he reportedly said there was a vehicle following him and he did not know why. After talking to him, police noticed Campbell smelled strongly of alcohol. According to reports, he denied having anything to drink earlier in the evening. Police then had Campbell take the field sobriety test, which he failed.
After Campbell allegedly failed his field sobriety test, he was arrested and transported to headquarters, where he refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Man's BAC Allegedly Tests Twice the Legal Limit
Jason Michael Cochran, 36, of 20 Newtown Ave., was arrested on July 18 at 1:39 a.m. on charges of driving while having a blood alcohol level higher than .15 percent.
After police pulled Cochran over for suspected drunken driving, Cochran told police he had consumed “a couple mixed drinks” and was heading back home. Police asked him to perform the field sobriety test, which Cochran allegedly failed. He consented to a chemical test and it was found that his BAC was allegedly at .174 percent, more than twice the legal limit. Police also found that Cochran was driving with an expired license. He was arrested and transported to headquarters to be processed. He is scheduled to appear in Fourth District Court on Aug. 9.
