NK Woman Charged With Second DUI
Joann L. Peltier, 48, of 10 Brookside Drive in North Kingstown was arrested April 8 at 8:20 p.m. on charges of driving under the influence and cited for refusing to submit to a chemical test.
Police initially pulled Peltier over after she was seen driving without headlights on and swerving in and out of her lane. According to reports, Peltier told police she was driving home after shopping at Kohl’s. She seemed confused and told police she did not know where she lived but that it was right down the road. Police asked her to perform a field sobriety test after smelling alcohol on her breath and noticing that she had issues maintaining her balance.

Derick Patrick, Martini, 40, of 35 Pojac Point Rd. in North Kingstown was arrested April 8 at 10:04 a.m. on charges of driving while intoxicated.
Martini was allegedly driving down Post Road when an officer clocked him traveling at 73 mph in a 35 mph zone. He was pulled over after police saw him swerving and failing to use his turn signal. Martini allegedly told police he was driving erratically because he was having problems at home. Officers noted that his eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred.
Upon officers’ request, Martini consented to a field sobriety test. During the walk and turn component of the test (whereby Martini was asked to walk in a straight line and then turn), Martini allegedly told police, “I don’t think I could ever do that dance. I’ve seen it done on TV.”
After failing his field sobriety test, Martini was taken to the North Kingstown Police Department. During the ride to the police station, Martini allegedly told his arresting officer that he was an important director making seven figures and chastised the officer for not arresting “real criminals.”
At the station, Martini agreed to take a Breathalyzer test, during which his blood alcohol content measured at .085 and .082. During processing, Martini was allegedly uncooperative and was yelling profanity at officers. He allegedly told one officer, “You’ll be lucky that I don’t catch you out of uniform.”
