Rhode Island Lighthouse Cruises & Newport Harbor Tours

Explore Rhode Island from the water with these series of narrated tours. Sights include ten lighthouses (Wickford Point, Plum Beach, Dutch Island, Whale Rock, Beavertail, Castle Hill, Lime Rock, Goat Island, Rose Island and Conanicut lighthouses) as well as ten islands and 30 miles of the state’s coastline while crusing on the 400-passenger Millenium. Embarks out of Quonset Point at 1347 Roger Williams Way.

Pricing: $25 adult, $23 seniors (60+), $14 children (4-12), infants free. Free parking.

South County 7th Annual 5k Run/Walk

June 4, 10 a.m.

Lace up the sneakers and hit the pavement for the South County 7th Annual 5k Run/Walk, with proceeds benefiting the North Kingstown Chamber Charitable Foundation, North Kingstowns LINKS and the NK Food Pantry. Awards will be given to the top two male and female runners – first place gets $100 and second place receives $50. Medeals will be awarded tot he top two finishers in each age category. Plum Beach Lighthouse Benefit Concert

June 11, 7 – 10 p.m.

Okay, this event isn’t exactly in North Kingstown but it’s for a good cause that’s close to home. Head over to the Newport Yachting Center for a concert benefiting the Plum Beach Lighthouse with entertainment courtesy of the Orleans Trio.

Pricing: $65 per person.

Strawberry Festival at Smith’s Castle

June 18, noon to 4 p.m.

Savor celebrated strawberry shortcake and pay homage to the humble wild strawberry ­– a favorite of the early colonists and native Narragansett.

2011 Summer Concert Series

Tuesdays, 7 p.m.

Grab some chairs, kick back and enjoy some great music with a great view at the Wickford Town Dock with the Wickford Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the North Kingstown Arts Council.
