North Kingstown Community Chorus Awards 4 Scholarships
Four music scholarship winners will perform at the North Kingstown Community Chorus 30th Anniversary Spring Concert May 2 and 3.
The North Kingstown Community Chorus is pleased to announce 4 music scholarship winners for 2015.
Bethany Lindeblad, who will receive the $1,000 Allie Goulet Memorial Scholarship, will major in music therapy at Anna Maria College in Paxton, Ma. She has been active in the NKHS Concert Choir, Symphonic Band, Senior Jazz Band and All-State Ensembles. She has also participated in the high school’s musicals for the past 3 years. She is a peer mentor for children in an adaptive music class. Bethany will sing at the Saturday concert.
Abigail Dolan, who will receive the $2,000 NKCC scholarship, lives in North Kingstown and attends St. Mary Academy Bay View. She will attend Bucknell University in Pennsylvania and will pursue a double major in music composition and performance. At Bay View she composed for the orchestra and played both the saxophone and the piano. Her specialty is jazz. Abigail will play the piano at the Sunday concert.

Allison McIllece, who will receive the NKCC special 30th anniversary $1,000 scholarship, attends NKHS. She is a soprano and will attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She will major in commercial music, production and performance. Allison writes some of her own music for an a Cappella group and has been in All-State and District choirs for the past 4 years. She has also been in the high school’s musicals for 3 years and was house manager for “On the Town”. Allison will sing at the Saturday concert.
Benjamin Cruz, who will receive the new $1,000 Janet Berry scholarship, attends South Kingstown High School. He will attend DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, majoring in music performance. Ben’s goal is to play with a major symphonic orchestra. He has been principal clarinet of the orchestra and pep and marching bands. He has also played with the Wakefield Civic Band and has many honors at the state and national levels in both band and orchestra. Ben will play the clarinet at the Sunday concert.
