The town of North Kingstown’s annual fireworks display will be held July 2 with a rain date of July 3.
The crowd gathered on the town beach will enjoy the display starting at around 8:45 p.m.
Though all are welcome to the event, the town’s release announcing the display suggests out-of-towners take extra precautions to avoid parking issues.

“General Parking is restricted to authorized public parking lots and street spaces,” the town said in a release. “Illegal parking violations will be enforced by North Kingstown Police Patrols, and offending vehicles may be towed away.”
The tenor of the released sparked some discussion on social media. Resident Essie Dube contacted the town after an earlier version of the fireworks information posted on the town’s Facebook page made it seem like nonresidents were not welcome at the event.
In response, Dube said the Town Manager didn’t authorize the exact wording of the first release and said it was put out by the police department, though it was posted on the town’s website and Facebook page. Since then, the revised release softened the language.
“Just because something is on Facebook does not mean it is true,” Town Manager Michael Embury wrote. ”Use of the beach up to 3:00 PM is restricted to residents who have beach stickers for their vehicles. After that time anyone can use the beach. There has NEVER been a restriction for attending fireworks. Just another case of false information being put out by certain users of Facebook.”
In any event, the town’s fireworks display is looked forward to by many, especially because it comes two days before many other communities host similar displays.
