RI Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School Sets February 5th Open House for Prospective Students
PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School (RINI-MC) will host an open house on Wednesday, February 5th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm for prospective students and their families on the school’s main campus at 150 Washington Street - 4th floor, Providence. This is the second of two open house sessions to recruit students for the school’s 2014-15 academic year.
Established in 2011, the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter School offers a dynamic four-year program of study that bridges high school to college, culminating in specialized nursing knowledge and a high school degree. The school is a tuition-free public high school. It currently accommodates 272 motivated male and female students in grades 10, 11, 12 and 12+ (ages 15-20) that come from school districts across Rhode Island, representing the state’s ethnic, cultural and economic diversity. All Rhode Island students who have completed the ninth grade are eligible to apply to and attend the school. Admission occurs through a lottery system.

“We are currently at full enrollment,” Pamela L. McCue, RN, MS, and the school’s CEO said. “In June 2014 we will celebrate our school’s first graduating class. We will then have approximately 70 openings for new students to join us in September 2014.”

Applications for the 2014-15 school years are being accepted online beginning January 1st. A public lottery will be held on March 5, 2014 to determine the student applicants who will join the student body in September, 2014. Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School is the first charter school in the country dedicated to the nursing profession. It is also the first middle college established in Rhode Island. It exists to immerse each student in the setting and structure of a college, learning under the guidance of industry practitioners and with a concentration in health care professional opportunities. The school is structured to provide students with a supportive learning environment, and committed to providing the skills, knowledge and passion necessary to excel in the nursing and allied health professions.
