The Annual Father's Day Classic is held at soccer fields throughout North Kingstown with approximately 100 teams from throughout the northeast.

This weekend the North Kingstown Soccer Association hosted the Father’s Day Classic soccer tournament, one that occurs every year on the weekend of the holiday. The tournament has a capacity of 110 teams from throughout the northeast region, drawing participants mainly from New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

Both boys and girls teams of under eight to under 16 all play over the weekend, although up to under 10 is non-competitive. A trophy presentation is held on Sunday at the conclusion of the tournament for under 12, 14 and 16 age groups, with approximately 10 teams receiving trophies each year.

“We routinely get good weather and a lot of the out of town teams stay at local hotels,” said Russ Dubuc, the tournament’s director for six years now. “We have four vendors covering ice cream, apparel, tournament gear, and much needed slushies with 80 degree weather starting at nine in the morning.”
