Pic of the Day: Sunset over Portsmouth

The sky over Rhode Island was pure art tonight as the lingering overcast all day finally broke just in time for the sunset.

With hazy skies and just enough clouds, conditions were ripe for a spectacular display of yellow and reddish hues.

You might have missed the sky tonight, but thankfully, Robert Hinrichs was in Portsmouth and had his camera handy.

Hinrichs said that the sunset was “a nice bonus down here” in response to a tweet from the National Weather Service in Boston noting that the clouds breaking up at around 6 p.m. set up the potential for beautiful photographs.

“Could be some good sunset shots tonight!” they said.
