Police Investigate Two Burglaries, Suspicious Activity Near Shermantown Road

After two residential burglaries and a string of calls from residents regarding suspicious activity in the area, North Kingstown police are investigating the matter.

Two burglaries and several reports of suspicious vehicles in the Shermantown Road area have prompted an investigation by the .

Last week, a house on Polo Drive and another on Fieldstone Lane – two streets at near opposite ends of Shermantown Road – were broken into.

“We’ve been analyzing all the reports and increasing patrols in that area and talking to other agencies to see if there’s any consistency or commonality,” said Lt. Christopher Emerson.

Police are attempting to piece together the breaking-and-entering incidents along with the reports of suspicious activity, which point to a dark-colored SUV operated by a man and woman, in the Shermantown Road area.

“These types of activities are preying on people who aren’t home during the day,” said Emerson. “Neighbors who are home should be vigilant and report suspicious activity.”

According to Emerson, residents should take notice of suspicious vehicles entering neighborhoods and driveways, people asking for donations that do not appear to be legitimate and other suspicious or unusual activity.
