Police: Speed a Factor in Fatal Accident

Police are pointing to speed as a factor in Saturday night's fatal car accident on Hamilton Allenton Road, according to reports from the Providence Journal.

near 529 Hamilton Allenton Rd. around 9 p.m. Saturday. Nonnenmacher was pronounced dead early Sunday morning after succumbing to his injuries.

His passenger, , was also transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he was listed in stable condition. He has now been downgraded to fair condition as of Tuesday. Both teenagers were 2011 graduates of .

Police found no evidence that alcohol was a factor but believe he was traveling faster than the posted 25-mph speed limit. 

Friends have created a memorial to Nonnenmacher at the crash site, using skateboards to create a cross. (For those planning to visit the site, please take the proper precautions as the road in that area is narrow with no shoulders.)

The high school's guidance office will be offering a full range of counseling services for students.
