Ribbon Cutting for New NK Senior Housing on Thursday
The former home to St. Bernard's Church c. 1874 is now a 35-unit affordable senior housing complex.

Sens. Jack Reed, Sheldon Whitehouse and Rep. Jim Langevin will be on hand for a ribbon cutting Thursday at Belleville House, a new senior housing development on Tower Hill Road in North Kingstown.
The former home of St. Bernard’s Church, Belleville house has been under construction for several months and dates to 1874.
Along with the members of the local delegation, on hand will be officials from Christ Community Housing Corporation, Washington County Development Corporation, the Providence Field Office of the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development and Rhode Island Housing.

The speaking program begins at 11:30 a.m.

Ground broke on the project in 2011. St. Bernard’s moved to a new building up Tower Hill Road in 2010.
“Housing like this will keep the elderly close to transportation, shopping, medical needs and most importantly family and friends,” Catherine Taylor, then-director of the state’s Division of Elderly Affairs said at a the groundbreaking ceremony.
