A pickup truck driving north on Route 1 approaching the intersection with Route 138 struck a snowbank and rolled over on Friday night at about 11:30.
The driver escaped the vehicle, which then caught fire, said North Kingstown Deputy Fire Chief Gregg Morash. Five emergency vehicles responded and the fire was extinguished in about five minutes, Morash said.
The driver, Domenic Carnevale, 21, of Providence, was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he is in stable condition. Police arrested him for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.
