Sewer Work to Close Camp Ave. Again
Sewer work will resume on Camp Avenue in a few weeks.

Expect to see the return of "detour" and "road closed" signs in the Camp Avenue area in a few weeks. Construction will resume in about two weeks on Camp Avenue as , forcing motorists in the area to use detours once again.
The road was closed for much of August, with motorist using a detour through Quonset to exit the neighborhood. The gate connecting the surrounding neighborhoods to Circuit Drive in Quonset Business Park has remained opened while construction continues.
According to Director of Public Works Phil Bergeron, Camp Avenue was reopened and construction put on standby for the start of school. The road will remain open temporarily for two more weeks to allow parents and teachers to acclimate to the construction and detours.

"We had hoped to be done with the Camp Avenue piece before the start of school, but that unfortunately didn't happen," said Bergeron.
Completion of the project was pushed back after the town decided to replace almost 700 feet of water lines as a preventative measure. (According to Bergeron, the water lines are deeper and harder to reach than previously thought, causing the town to decide to replace them while crews were already working in the area.) Additionally, the discovery of several large boulders in the area put work behind schedule.

Bergeron estimates that there's still another two to three works worth of construction left on Camp Avenue, meaning that the Camp Ave. portion of the project should be completed in four to six weeks at the most. After that, construction will move to Post Road. Tentative schedules have the Route 403 to Camp Avenue portion beginning next.
