Track Star Leaps Over School Record In High Jump
Junior Evan Scott sets a new school record in high jump.
The North Kingstown High School boys track team not only walked away with a second-place showing behind Bishop Hendricken this weekend, but squashed a few records.
Junior Evan Scott leapt over the 35-year-old school record for high jump, clearing 6'5" in the event.
"He's a fiery competitor," said boys track head coach Charles Breagy. "I do believe he has a lot more potential. He's just starting out."

A junior in only his second year on the team, Breagy said Scott's growth as an athlete could prove to make him an even more formidable jumper next year.
"I think if this kid, if he applies himself and practices every day, he can be a seven-foot jumper," said boys track coach Charles Breagy.

Scott also plays for the school's basketball squad and will serve as one of the team's captains, alongside his twin brother Mike, next year.
Also breaking some records was Troy Crawford, who broke the school record in the 400-meter dash at 49.7 seconds. The boys 4x400 relay troupe broke the Class A record, but missed the school's record.
"It was a great meet for North Kingstown," said Breagy.
The team will go on to the Hendricken invitational on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. before embarking for the state championships on June 4 at Brown University.
