Westerly Library and
Wilcox Park to Host Fundraising Party
The Westerly Library and Wilcox Park Association is hosting
a Pops Party! On June 21, 2014, we’ll pitch beautifully decorated tents in
the Columbus Esplanade so our guests can enjoy the Westerly Chorus’ Summer Pops
Concert presented annually in our park.
The location will afford a great view of the stage and the fireworks
which follow the concert.
There will be delicious food, plenty of good things to
drink, and a silent auction. Tickets for
the event are $125 per person which includes parking in the nearby parking lot
owned by Washington Trust who have donated its use to the Library and Park for
the event. The funds raised during this event will support the many programs
and services provided to the community by the Library and Park and help it
become the kind of Library Westerly and the surrounding region needs and
deserves.

Wilcox Park, where the concert and the party are being held,
is one of the most beautiful places in Rhode Island. Wilcox Park and
the Westerly Library are both owned and managed by the same not-for-profit
organization - the Memorial and Library Association - which is dedicated to providing the best
possible library services and maintaining the park at the very highest level. The association spends countless resources -
time, money, effort - to keep the park
in pristine condition day-in and day-out throughout the year and has done so
since the park was first opened in 1898 (???).
Through our continuing efforts and commitment to the park, we have
created the perfect setting for the Westerly Chorus's Summer Pops Concert. We have been working with our partners at the
Westerly Chorus and the town of Westerly for over 30 years, to make sure this
event goes smoothly, and the Summer Pops concert in Wilcox Park has become one
of the things that makes Westerly such a special place.
Catering for the event is being provided by Shelter Harbor
Inn and the menu includes a raw bar, and many other food stations . Grey Sail Brewery of Westerly is donating all
the beer for the event, and Jonathan Edward Winery of Stonington, CT is
donating much of the wine.
