• North Providence Orders Storage Site Stop-Work Order (upriseri.com) — A controversial self-storage project on Douglas Avenue is now halted after the North Providence Town Council ordered a stop-work, saying the multi-story building doesn't match the eight one-story structures it approved in 2017. Town attorneys will now review whether the developer is legally entitled to build the current design, while neighbors raise concerns about height, erosion, and lighting ahead of the council's October 6 meeting.
   

• North Providence Delays Doggy Daycare Zoning to October (upriseri.com) — Plans to allow doggy daycare businesses in North Providence have been pushed to October after councilors realized a 100-foot residential buffer might block the proposed Smith Street site. The applicant, a lifelong local with pet-industry experience, now must work with town staff on new language and provide a floor plan and dog-capacity details before the council decides whether to allow the use townwide.
   

• It was more than football on Friday night. Here's the scores (newportri.com) — North Providence athletes were busy Friday, with girls soccer narrowly falling 2–1 to North Smithfield and boys soccer dropping a 5–0 decision to Lincoln, while girls tennis shined in a 5–2 win over PCD/SRA. The statewide roundup also recaps key football, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, and tennis results and lists today's high school matchups if you want to catch a game.
