Portsmouth Band to Compete in 2012 WBRU Rock Hunt

Every year, 95.5 WBRU has held a contest called the Rock Hunt. Local artists from Rhode Island and surrounding Massachusetts towns send in samples of their original music in hopes that they will be chosen to be one of 12 semi-finalists.

Scarlet, a Portsmouth band, will be representing in the very last of the semi-final concerts. The semi-final round consists of four shows, with three bands competing in each. After each of these shows, one band will be chosen to move on to the finals. Once the final show takes place, a winner will be chosen, with many great perks to follow.

The grand prize includes $5,000 worth of recording and promotional services, guaranteed plays on 95.5 for the year, and a spot in their summer concert series lineup.

Scarlet has been together since 2008 and are all natives to Portsmouth. Their semi-final show will be held at Newport Grand Slots at 9 p.m. on March 10.

Tickets are $5.

The judging will be done by a panel of industry professionals, but the attendees that show will have a lot to do with the energy during each band's performance; so please come out and show support for the band and rock out with us!
