Portsmouth Town Committee Urges Rep. Dan Gordon to Resign

Portsmouth Republicans encourage Rep. Daniel P. Gordon to resign.

In a state where our Republican representatives are outnumbered more than two to one, it is with deep regret and great contemplation that we ask one of our elected officials to step down.

However, the leaders of the Portsmouth Republican Town Committee do not believe that the actions and represent the values and integrity that our constituents expect or deserve. The residents of District 71 need a state representative that can emphasize the need for state pension reform, help improve the quality and affordability of our educational system, and lead our state to be able to withstand the economic downturn that consistently ranks our state amongst the highest in unemployment and least attractive to employers. What we do not need is a distraction.

We believe that integrity of one’s character is an essential component to successfully achieving these objectives and feel misled by the past and present actions of Representative Gordon.

We honestly hope that Mr. Gordon will heed the words of his peers and constituents and resign quickly and quietly. We  also hope that Mr. Gordon will re-focus his efforts on restoring his personal life so that he may return with strong character and a willingness to lead our state as a positive role model.

Jeffrey Plumb, chairman
Portsmouth Republican Town Committee
