Top 5 Wine Storage Tips
Whether you're storing 1 or 100 bottles, our winemaker, Richard, says these are the five most important things to keep in mind.

Our customers often ask us what we recommend when it comes to storing wine in their homes. Whether you’re storing 1 or 100 bottles, our winemaker, Richard, says these are the five most important things to keep in mind:
- Temperature. The ideal storage temperature is 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Stability. Fluctuations in storage room temperature can cause corks to expand and contract, which lets air into the bottle. Be sure to keep bottles away from stoves, refrigerators, fireplaces, and furnaces.
- Light. Wine is very much affected by light. It can cause the flavor of your wine to change and sometimes even spoil it. It’s best to keep your wine out of direct sunlight.
- Vibration. Don’t store wine in an area that gets lots of vibration.
- Position. Bottles should be stored on their sides so that the cork remains wet.
Of course, we believe the best thing you can do with a bottle of wine isn’t to store it, but to drink it! Since most wines are bottled as soon as they’re ready to be served, it’s best not to store them for too long.
