Sandy Point Beach Reopens for Swimming
The health department previously recommended the closing of Sandy Point Beach due to high bacteria levels.

The state Department of Health is recommending reopening in Portsmouth and Third Beach in Middletown for swimming.
The town beach in Portsmouth was closed on Wednesday after water sample results showed high bacteria levels, according to the Department of Health.
This recommendation is based on results from water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits. The department will continue to monitor the water quality regularly to assure safe bathing throughout the summer season.
Beach statuses may change on a daily basis. For additional information about swimming at Rhode Island beaches, visit www.health.ri.gov or call (401) 222-2751.
