At the time of the 6:45 p.m. June 7 shooting, Neighborhood Response Team officers were "conducting directed patrols focused on unauthorized car meets, which have been associated with multiple violent incidents throughout the city," according to the release.
"Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of (the bistro) and learned that an adult male victim had been shot during the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment," the release said.
"Investigators determined that Prado participated in the assault and allegedly discharged a firearm during the altercation," according to the release, and Perez Fajardo "allegedly initiated the physical assault on the victim prior to the shooting."
The state police said Prado and Perez Fajardo were "taken into custody without incident and turned directly over to the Providence Police uniform patrol on scene."
