He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and transferred to the Adult Correctional Institutions' Men's Intake Center, underscoring ongoing enforcement of court compliance for Providence defendants.
2. Providence Man Charged With Failing To Stop For An Accident Apprehended: Cops (patch.com) — A 38-year-old Providence man wanted for allegedly failing to stop after a crash and driving without a valid license was arrested late Tuesday night. Cranston police located him, and he was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks before being brought to Sixth Division District Court, a key venue for Providence-area cases.
3. UMass student accused of murder, assault held without bail in Providence (theweektoday.com) — A 19-year-old UMass Dartmouth student is being held without bail in Providence after being charged with murdering fellow student Marvins Antoine and injuring another man during a fight at Mezzo lounge. His case has been moved from District Court to Providence Superior Court, where a future hearing will determine possible bail while he remains at the Adult Correctional Institutions.
4. Patricia (Shuman) Tavares (pvdeye.org) — Family and friends are mourning Patricia Ann (Shuman) Tavares, who passed away September 23 at Steere House Nursing Home in Providence. Remembered for her warmth, love of music, and devotion to family, she will be honored at a Celebration of Life on October 2 at Pocasset Memorial Funeral Home in Tiverton, followed by a graveside ceremony at Pocasset Cemetery.
5. Hometown Hero: Brian Garrepy, Providence College (wpri.com) — A standout season from Providence College forward Brian Garrepy is giving local fans plenty to cheer about, with six goals in nine games and a key role in the Friars' Big East push. The North Kingstown native says playing in Providence fulfills a childhood dream, and he's focused on team success as much as his breakout personal stats.
