Providence Place Mall Shooting Prompts Evacuation

A teenager is expected to survive after being shot early Monday evening.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Providence Place Mall was evacuated early Monday evening after a teen was shot in a parking garage. The Providence Department of Public Safety said the 19-year-old victim is expected to survive after being "targeted" and shot in the second-floor garage near Nordstrom.

Providence Police said the incident "was not an active shooter situation." Police are searching for a suspect or suspects.

Police responded around 4:45 p.m. to the mall. The mall was put on lockdown and then evacuated, police said.
