• New Smithfield fire station set to be completed by spring (dailydispatch.com) — Construction is moving ahead on Smithfield's new fire station at 341 George Washington Highway, with completion expected by the end of spring. Funded by a $4.5 million bond approved by Smithfield taxpayers, the station will cut response times along the northern corridor and to North Central Airport, centralize fire alarm and dispatch, and serve as the lead facility for the Smithfield Fire Department.
