Winter Film Series: Babette's Feast

This screening of the Oscar-winnig 1987 Film "Babette's Feast" is free and open to the public.   Taking place in 1871, it is the story of Babette, a mysterious refugee from the civil war in Paris, who arrives at the home of pious sisters Martina and Philippa in an isolated village in Denmark. Babette works as their housekeeper for years until one day when she wins the lottery and decides as a farewell to the sisters she will prepare an outrageous and gourmet French meal. The lavish feast tests the moral fiber of the puritanical townsfolk, who vow to withstand the sensual pleasure of the meal.
